Guatemala Hand Woven Celebration Placemat Set | Desert Rock & Sky
Set your table in rich southwest earth colors of apricot, slate, and browns. Our Celebration placemats are handwoven on the traditional backstrap loom. The center motif has been embroidered (or brocaded) at the same time as the weaving. This motif represents “ch’ech'” in Mam, which refers to the agave plant. The plant fibers have been used for weaving, as well as in construction, not to mention its application in tequila! (in the US we might find it as an ornamental house plant.)
There is a matching table runner and coordinating table napkins.
Each placemat in a set has the same stripes and embroidery motif. The colors of the embroidery vary in each placemat.
